Instructor John Gavin & ANDP Student Adam Nager get ready for training!

You’ve learned the advantages of diving Nitrox in a recreational sense, now it’s time to build upon that knowledge and learn how to utilize mixes up to 100% Oxygen to accelerate our decompression. We use the latest technology to build our dive plans – MultiDeco dive planning software and the Shearwater Dive computer platform while also understanding the analog origins of deep dive planning. You’ll learn the physics and physiology associated with diving mixes beyond 40% oxygen. You’ll also learn the mechanics of decompression theory, unlocking the secrets of how dive computers are able to manage decompression stress.

In Decompression Procedures you will learn how to execute dives up to 150’ requiring mandatory decompression. We specifically train to explore deep ocean shipwrecks. Ask yourself, What is the planning process that goes into executing these dives? How do we perform an appropriate descent? How do we position ourselves during the working portion of the dive, what about the ascent? How are we performing those mandatory decompression stops? How are we debriefing those dives and learning from fevery dive to build efficiency and precision into our plans? What happens when it all goes wrong and we have to self-rescue ourselves. Graduates of this course will be able to answer all these questions and more. This course will challenge you to become a thinking diver capable of self-sufficiency.

Course Prerequisites

Students are evaluated for participation in technical courses on a case-by-case basis. Not all divers are the same, nor are all certifications. Just because you have the requisite certifications doesn’t qualify you for participation. The majority of our students are local divers who have taken recreational and/or our Intro to Tech class, however we also take students who are traveling from out of state. We will do our best to tailor a training plan that offers you the greatest level of success.
