Greg Havlusch began diving in New Jersey back in 2005. Growing up on the Jersey Shore (the real one, not the MTV version) he would often see divers emerge from the sea looking like characters out of a movie. When he finally scraped together enough money for an open water class he went to Divers Two in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ. After finishing Open Water in the Belmar Back Bay he made his first wreck dive on the Spartan, a Tug boat in about 70’ of water. It was the most exhilarating 12 minutes of his life! After that dive Greg was hooked and was fortunate enough to travel the world exploring wrecks in Canada, the Carolinas, the Caribbean, and Truk Lagoon. After moving to Florida in 2019, Greg decided he maybe had something to offer new divers and earned his Instructor rating at Force-E Scuba Centers in Boca Raton. Since then Greg has earned instructor ratings with SSI, SDI, TDI, and DAN. Teaching multiple recreational specialties and technical ratings up to Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures, his true passion is teaching the next generation of Intrepid Underwater explorers, boldly adventuring inside deep ocean shipwrecks.
John Gavin became a certified diver in 1998 at Eden Rock in Grand Cayman. Originally from Iowa, Gavin moved to Florida in 2012 and quickly found himself with some of the choicest diving in the world in his backyard. He became a PADI Divemaster in 2013 and an Instructor in 2014 working on local dive boats and teaching nearly every day of the year. During this time Gavin found his true passion – technical diving. After graduating from John Chatterton’s Adv. Nitrox & Decompression Procedures courses he was completely hooked. Gavin completed Chatterton’s training all the way through Advanced Trimix, culminating with expeditions to the Carolina in 2017 and the fabled Andrea Doria in 2019. Discovering he had something to offer those looking to become technical divers he completely immersed himself in technical dive training – assisting Chatterton with every course he could. Gavin’s training philosophy is that of an organic nature, working with students where they are coming from allowing them a chance to develop the skills that will make them successful deep ocean shipwreck explorers.
