You’ve reached the end of recreational training and you are ready to take the next step – going deeper, and staying longer. Intro to Tech will familiarize you with the gear and techniques associated with technical diving. All students, regardless of prior experience start in the pool. We’ll evaluate you for the basics – finning, buoyancy, trim, bottle handling, SMB deployment, situational awareness. From there we’ll formulate a training plan that sets you up for success. Most of our students arrive with little ocean diving experience when it comes to doubles – if you haven’t been in the ocean with doubles before, there is no substitution for that experience. The idea is to set you up for success in Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures. Building on the skills we introduce in the pool we develop a training plan for students to implement, conducting dives and building repetitions in technical gear.
Course Prerequisites
Students are evaluated for participation in technical courses on a case-by-case basis. Not all divers are the same, nor are all certifications. Just because you have the requisite certifications doesn’t qualify you for participation. The majority of our students are local divers who have taken recreational courses however we also take students who are traveling from out of state. We will do our best to tailor a training plan that offers you the greatest level of success.

Don’t have all your gear just yet? Don’t worry! We have a wide availability of technical gear we can loan you for class. All students must have at least their own backplate, harness, and wing. The idea is that we want you to build on the work we complete in class by diving outside of class, having your own gear makes that possible. Fortunately we have a great relationship with local dive shops and can get you the best deal on top quality technical diving equipment!
